Following some tabletop gaming in my teens, in recent years I have painted the odd Dwarf again and rediscovered how much fun it can be! Among the results are a few dioramas using older and newer Games Workshop miniatures as well as things like chopsticks, toothpicks, insulation foam and of course liberal amounts of PVA glue.

I have also done other little projects, including an unfinished restoration of a 1980s Hero Quest board game, but I still have some more miniatures to paint before I can shoot any photos of that.

Mess with the peasants at your own peril…

Built in summer 2016, this one was a lot of fun! After coming across some Dwarf Peasants on Ebay, this little scene evolved.

I do hope that when the disgruntled tax collector inevitably returns with some backup to retrieve his purse, dagger and dignity, the peasants will manage to resist again…

Revolutionary Gretchin desert raider

The newest and yet unfinished build is my take on a Gorkamorka-style Gretchin cart. Its (relatively) stalwart crew have rejected all Authoritaeh, including the leadership claim of the Great Gobbo(s).

The clockwork car was given to me as a present just as I was starting to think about making a Gorkamorka vehicle, and despite my concerns the mechanism survived the build!

Not all of the crew have been placed yet, crucial members such as the driver still sit on my painting station awaiting completion. Also, I will have to take some better quality photos in the future.

Skinks on the march

I have some plans to build a big(ish) jungle scene, featuring Dwarfs as well as Lizardpeople, with the former looting a temple, only to be ambushed by the latter. I have not gotten much beyond the early planning stages, but I bought some miniatures (indeed these 1990s Skinks were among the very first miniatures I ever painted!) and did a few experiments.

I also dabbled with some stonework, having seen the amazing work of a great artist in one of her excellent how-to videos. I went for something easy, essentially just a carved block of insulation foam with some fish tank plants and a standard bearer, and I think it came out reasonably well.
